Road accidents at sharp curves remain a significant concern due to poor visibility, inadequate lighting, and the lack of an effective warning system. To overcome these challenges, this project introduces the Dynaguard Barrier System, an integrated solution that combines automatic road lighting, impact detection, and Internet of Things (IoT) technology to enhance road safety. The system employs motion and impact sensors to monitor vehicle movement and detect collision incidents along road barriers. When a vehicle approaches a sharp curve, the lighting system is automatically activated to improve visibility and provide a safer driving environment while maintaining energy efficiency. In the event of a collision, the impact sensor detects the impact and immediately sends a notification to a smartphone via the Telegram application.
The proposed prototype was developed using a microcontroller-based platform integrated with sensors, LED lighting, and IoT communication components. A series of tests were conducted to assess the performance of the lighting system, impact detection capability, and real-time notification function. The findings indicate that the system effectively activates the barrier lighting when required, accurately detects collision events, and successfully delivers instant alerts through Telegram.
Overall, the Dynaguard Barrier System offers an innovative approach to improving road safety by integrating intelligent lighting, collision detection, and IoT-based communication. The system has the potential to serve as a practical and economical solution for reducing accident risks at sharp curves and can be further enhanced for future real-world implementation.
