Mastering biodiversity concepts in biology remains a challenge for many students, often leading to low retention and limited creative engagement. This project introduces an innovative learning approach that integrates biology mnemonics with project-based learning (PjBL) to transform how students understand and apply complex biological concepts.

Tested among matriculation students, the approach combines memory-enhancing techniques with hands-on, student-driven projects to create a more engaging and effective learning experience. The results demonstrate significant improvements in both academic achievement and knowledge retention, while also fostering higher levels of creativity in learning tasks.

Interestingly, the findings reveal that while both achievement and creativity improved, they develop independently—highlighting the need for teaching strategies that intentionally nurture both dimensions.

This innovation offers a practical, scalable solution for educators and curriculum designers to enhance biology education, particularly in biodiversity topics. By bridging memorization and creative application, this approach has strong potential for classroom implementation, curriculum integration, and broader educational impact.
