Mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue and malaria continue remain serious health concern in many tropical countries. Most commercial mosquito repellents, such as coils and chemical sprays, release harmful smoke and toxic substances that may affect human health and the environment. Therefore, this innovation introduces a natural mosquito repellent candle using extracts from the neem plant. (Azadirachta indica). The objective of this project is to develop a safe, eco-friendly, and cost-effective mosquito control method using natural ingredients. The candle is produced by combining neem oil with natural wax and other plant-based materials to create a slow-burning candle that releases mosquito-repelling compounds when lit. Neem contains active compounds such as azadirachtin, which are known to disrupt mosquito behaviour and reduce their presence in surrounding areas. The innovation focuses on providing a chemical-free alternative that is safe for indoor and outdoor use. Experimental observations showed reduced mosquito activity in areas where the neem candle was used compared to untreated areas. Additionally, the product is biodegradable, easy to produce, and suitable for community use. In conclusion, the neem candle shows strong potential as a sustainable, environmentally friendly mosquito repellent that promotes healthier living environments while reducing reliance on synthetic insecticides.
