SS566: KitaCare - Always Beside You ( A Voice First Micro Help Application For Elderly Malaysians )

M. Kavinraj Xplore Mindz Port Dickson

Malaysia's 3.4 million seniors aged 60 and above struggle to use smartphones due to limited digital literacy and physical constraints, leaving them unable to access everyday help independently. KitaCare is a voice-first microhelp app that lets elderly users request community volunteer assistance simply by speaking. Users tap one large microphone button, describe their need in English or Bahasa Melayu, and the app handles everything — converting speech to text, categorising the request using an offline AI engine, reading it back for confirmation, and connecting them to a nearby volunteer in under 30 seconds. No typing required. Prototype testing confirmed high accuracy across both languages, full request completion without prior training, and strong impact for seniors living alone. KitaCare advances SDG 3 and SDG 10, with clear pathways for national and regional scale.
