Abstract

ZYLEX is an innovative smart fitness device developed to address the high cost of wearable fitness technology, frequent battery charging requirements, and the inconvenience of using multiple devices for health monitoring. The device integrates piezoelectric technology, which converts kinetic energy generated during walking into electrical energy, enabling a self-charging system. It is powered by an ESP32 microcontroller and connected to the Blynk application, allowing users to monitor step counts and fitness data in real time through the Internet of Things (IoT). The product development process involved problem identification, system design, hardware and software integration, user validation, and commercialization planning. Priced at only RM50, ZYLEX offers an affordable alternative to conventional fitness trackers while maintaining essential smart monitoring features. Furthermore, the innovation supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) by promoting healthy lifestyles, renewable energy utilization, technological innovation, and sustainable product development. Overall, ZYLEX demonstrates significant potential as an accessible, sustainable, and user-friendly smart fitness solution for both local and international markets.
