SOLMATE is a portable solar-powered charging station designed to provide a reliable and sustainable source of energy for charging electronic devices. The project utilizes a solar panel to capture sunlight and convert it into electrical energy, which is regulated by a solar charge controller and stored in a rechargeable battery for use during nighttime or periods without sunlight. USB output ports allow users to charge mobile phones, tablets, and other compatible devices conveniently.
The primary objective of SOLMATE is to offer an eco-friendly charging solution that operates independently of the electrical grid while promoting awareness of renewable energy technologies. The system is lightweight, portable, weather-resistant, and easy to set up, making it suitable for schools, community areas, outdoor activities, and emergency situations such as floods and power outages.
SOLMATE benefits students, teachers, local communities, riders, and disaster victims by providing accessible charging facilities when conventional electricity is unavailable. The project also serves as an educational platform for learning STEM concepts, including the photoelectric effect, electrical circuits, and renewable energy systems. By encouraging innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving skills among students, SOLMATE supports the development of future-ready learners while contributing to sustainable development goals, particularly SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy.
