Flood disasters are becoming increasingly frequent and severe due to climate change, rapid urbanization, inadequate drainage systems, and river sedimentation. These challenges cause extensive damage to homes, infrastructure, businesses, and the environment while threatening public safety and economic stability. Therefore, this project proposes an Integrated Flood Mitigation Strategy that combines nature-based solutions, structural protection measures, and smart monitoring technologies to reduce flood risks. The framework incorporates forest preservation and sustainable land-use planning to enhance water absorption, protective flood barriers to prevent river overflow, detention lakes and diversion tunnels for stormwater storage and controlled discharge, and sensor-based monitoring systems with warning alarms and automated floodgates. The system enables a coordinated response involving monitoring, warning, diversion, storage, and safe discharge of excess water during heavy rainfall. The innovation offers benefits including reduced flood exposure, improved early warning capabilities, enhanced protection of vulnerable areas, better water management, and increased community resilience. In conclusion, the Integrated Flood Mitigation Strategy demonstrates strong potential as a practical, scalable, and sustainable solution for flood risk reduction and safer communities.
