Chromolaena odorata (Family: Asteraceae), formerly known by the synonym Eupatorium odoratum, is a traditional medicinal plant widely recognized for its remarkable wound-healing properties. For generations, various parts of this herb have been used in traditional medicine to treat cuts, burns, skin infections, and other minor injuries. This study aims to demonstrate that Chromolaena odorata is suitable for external application and has the potential to be developed into a safe and effective topical medication. The methodology involved collecting fresh young leaves, washing them thoroughly, and crushing them to obtain a natural green extract. The extracted liquid was then applied directly to superficial skin wounds at regular intervals while observing the healing progress over a period of sixteen days. The results showed significant improvement in the wound condition, with gradual reduction in inflammation, faster tissue regeneration, and complete wound closure by the end of the observation period. These findings indicate that the plant extract effectively promotes natural wound healing without causing visible adverse reactions. The wound-healing activity is attributed to the presence of antioxidant compounds, flavonoids, tannins, and other bioactive phytochemicals that help reduce oxidative stress, inhibit microbial growth, and stimulate cell repair. In conclusion, Chromolaena odorata extract demonstrates strong potential as a natural, affordable, and environmentally friendly topical treatment for wound management and future pharmaceutical applications.
