Bin2Win is a community-based innovation designed to increase recycling participation through a digital reward system. The initiative encourages users to recycle materials such as plastic, paper, and aluminum by rewarding them with redeemable points each time recyclable items are deposited at a Bin2Win station. Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, Bin2Win aims to reduce landfill waste, promote environmental awareness, and cultivate sustainable lifestyles within local communities. The system integrates digital technology, QR code identification, gamification, and circular economy principles to generate long-term social, environmental, and economic benefits.

The Bin2Win prototype was developed through a systematic process involving needs analysis, system design, prototype development, and field testing. The platform consists of smart recycling bins, QR code user identification, a centralized database, and a digital monitoring dashboard that automates data collection and reward management. Key features include digital reward points, real-time monitoring, user gamification, and environmentally friendly operations.

Field implementation demonstrated significant positive outcomes, including up to a 50% increase in recycling participation, a 30–40% reduction in landfill waste, enhanced environmental awareness, and the development of students' leadership and entrepreneurial skills. Additionally, revenue generated from the sale of recyclable materials contributes to the sustainability of the initiative. Bin2Win is highly scalable and can be replicated across schools, communities, local authorities, and corporate organizations due to its low-cost, flexible, and user-friendly design. Future integration with mobile applications, Internet of Things (IoT) technology, and advanced analytics dashboards further strengthens its potential for nationwide implementation.
