SS747: The Echoguard

EchoGuard is an innovative smart security and monitoring system developed to enhance the safety of homes, classrooms, offices, and other indoor environments through automation and real-time threat detection. The system integrates an Arduino Uno as the main controller with an ultrasonic sensor, radar sensor, piezoelectric vibration sensor, servo motor, buzzer, LED indicators, and an LCD display to detect unauthorized movement, forced entry, and suspicious vibrations. When a potential threat is detected, EchoGuard automatically rotates the sensor using the servo motor to scan the surrounding area, triggers an audible alarm through the buzzer, activates warning LEDs, and displays the alert status on the LCD screen. This enables users to respond quickly to possible security breaches while reducing dependence on constant human monitoring.

The project addresses the growing need for affordable and intelligent security systems by combining multiple sensing technologies into a single integrated solution. Unlike conventional alarm systems that rely on only one type of sensor, EchoGuard improves detection accuracy by monitoring motion, distance, and vibrations simultaneously, thereby minimizing false alarms and increasing reliability. The prototype is designed to be low-cost, energy-efficient, easy to assemble, and suitable for schools, homes, small businesses, and community facilities.

EchoGuard supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) by promoting technological innovation and smart infrastructure, SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by improving public safety through intelligent monitoring systems, and SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) through the use of low-power electronic components and energy-efficient operation. These SDGs encourage innovation, resilient infrastructure, safer communities, and efficient use of energy resources.

Overall, EchoGuard demonstrates how affordable embedded systems and sensor technology can be applied to create a practical, reliable, and intelligent security solution. By combining automation, real-time monitoring, and multi-sensor detection, the project contributes to safer environments while providing an accessible and scalable security system for everyday use.
