Gas leaks pose significant safety risks in residential environments and may lead to fires, explosions, injuries, and property damage. Early detection is essential to protect occupants and prevent hazards. Therefore, this project presents the development of a compact and affordable gas leak detection system for home use. The device utilizes an MQ-2 gas sensor to detect Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), propane, and methane in the surrounding environment. When gas concentration exceeds a preset threshold, the system activates a buzzer and visual indicator light to provide immediate warnings. The battery-powered detector features a simple on/off switch and compact design for easy installation in kitchens and other areas with gas appliances. The innovation provides benefits including early leak detection, improved household safety, reduced risk of fire and explosion, and increased user awareness. In conclusion, the developed gas detector offers a practical, low-cost, and user-friendly solution for reliable gas leak monitoring and early warning.
