Abstract

Jungle Rumble is an innovative Scratch-based educational platformer game that integrates digital learning, computational thinking, and environmental awareness into an engaging interactive experience. Players assume the role of a baby hornbill lost deep within the Malaysian rainforest and must navigate through 15 progressively challenging levels to find their way home while overcoming obstacles, avoiding predators, and collecting mangosteens to achieve higher performance ratings.

Unlike many conventional educational games that rely on passive content delivery, Jungle Rumble promotes active learning through real-time decision-making, problem-solving, and strategic thinking. Developed using core programming concepts such as loops, conditionals, event-driven logic, and sprite interactions, the project demonstrates strong technical proficiency and innovative game design.

The project contributes to SDG 4: Quality Education by enhancing digital literacy, computational thinking, and student engagement through gamified learning. It also supports SDG 15: Life on Land by raising awareness of wildlife conservation through a hornbill-inspired storyline that highlights the importance of biodiversity protection and habitat preservation. Furthermore, the project aligns with SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure by showcasing how digital technology can be leveraged to create innovative educational solutions.

With its scalable design, user-friendly interface, and strong educational value, Jungle Rumble demonstrates significant potential for classroom implementation, educational technology integration, and future commercialization. By combining innovation, technology, and conservation awareness, Jungle Rumble offers a meaningful contribution toward developing future-ready learners while fostering greater appreciation for environmental sustainability.
