PS178: SMART BLIND STICK

SUJENDRAN A/L RAJANDRAN Digti 360

The Smart Blind Stick is an assistive device designed to help visually impaired people move safely and independently. The system uses an Arduino microcontroller together with ultrasonic sensors to detect obstacles in front of the user. When an obstacle is detected within a certain distance, the stick alerts the user through a vibration motor and a buzzer, allowing them to avoid collisions. The device can also be integrated with a GPS module to provide location tracking and an emergency SOS feature that sends the user's location to family members or caregivers during emergencies.

The Smart Blind Stick is lightweight, portable, affordable, and easy to use. It enhances the traditional white cane by adding smart sensing technology, improving safety and confidence while walking in both indoor and outdoor environments. The project aims to reduce accidents, increase mobility, and improve the quality of life for visually impaired individuals through modern and cost-effective technology.
