Styrofoam is widely used in packaging but poses serious environmental problems due to

its non-biodegradability. This study aims to create an eco-friendly alternative by producing

biodegradable packaging peanuts from potato (Solanum tuberosum) starch. Starch was

extracted and formulated with glycerol and baking soda, then tested through drop tests, solubility

trials, and a survey with 30 participants. Results showed that the Eco-peanuts dissolved quickly

in water with little residue, provided strong cushioning for fragile items, and were well-accepted

for sustainability and usefulness. This study concludes that potato starch Eco-peanuts are

practical biodegradable packaging with recommendations to improve appearance and reduce

stickiness.
