Binfinity is an innovative automated waste sorting system developed to improve recycling efficiency and promote sustainable waste management. The system can identify and separate three types of trash — plastic, metal, and wet waste — automatically, reducing the need for manual sorting and minimizing contamination in recyclable materials.
The device integrates multiple sensors such as an infrared (IR) sensor, raindrop sensor, proximity switch, and buzzer, all controlled by a microcontroller. These components detect the type of material and trigger the stepper motor and servo motor to open the appropriate bin compartment for disposal. The system operates smoothly and provides user feedback through sound and motion indicators.
With its smart combination of automation and sensor technology, Binfinity demonstrates how innovation can support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities) by encouraging smarter waste management practices and reducing environmental pollution.
