The UQuiz innovation is a creative approach that combines elements of the Uno card game and the Quizziz digital platform to strengthen the mastery of active verbs among students in Chinese National-Type Schools (SJK). Research shows that conventional grammar teaching often leads to students making errors in sentence construction, confusion in verb usage, and a lack of interest due to non-interactive teaching and learning sessions. Based on Piaget and Vygotsky’s Constructivist Theory (1986), this innovation emphasizes student-centred learning through play activities and social interaction, while Mayer’s Multimedia Learning Theory (2001) supports the use of visuals, text, and digital interactivity to enhance students’ understanding and memory retention. The innovation is implemented in groups through three main phases: teacher explanation, card game activities, and digital reinforcement using Quizziz. Its effectiveness is measured through pre- and post-tests, observation, and document analysis. Findings show a significant improvement in students’ mastery of active transitive and intransitive verbs. The percentage of excellent students in the treatment group increased from 60% to 80% after the implementation of the innovation. In addition, this innovation also boosted students’ motivation, collaboration, and confidence in constructing correct sentences. Overall, UQuiz demonstrates that an edutainment approach based on games and technology can create a more meaningful, enjoyable, and effective learning environment, with strong potential to be applied to other grammar skills and topics in line with 21st-century educational aspirations.
