Children today are growing up in a digital world where excessive screen time has become the norm. In Malaysia, more than 90% of children exceed recommended limits, with studies linking this trend to speech delays, developmental challenges, and weakened emotional expression. Conventional strategies often focus on reducing screen exposure, yet this approach overlooks the potential of technology as a positive tool. ARTory+ offers an alternative by transforming passive screen use into active, collaborative, and socially enriching experiences. ARTory+ is an augmented reality platform designed for primary school children aged 6–12. It integrates storytelling, creativity, and social-emotional learning to foster empathy, communication, and teamwork. The platform benefits three key groups: children, teachers, and parents. Children gain opportunities for creative expression and friendship-building, teachers can align ARTory+ with SEL and inclusive learning goals, and parents are provided with a safe, engaging platform that balances learning and play. By reframing screen time as a medium for connection rather than isolation, ARTory+ promotes creativity, emotional intelligence, and digital literacy while building confidence and social skills. Ultimately, ARTory+ is more than an educational tool. It is a social learning environment preparing children for a future where collaboration and empathy are essential.
