Plastic food packaging is commonly used in packaging and transporting foods. However, it causes environmental issues due to its non-biodegradability. The purpose of this study was to develop a biodegradable food package pouch using orange (Citrus sinensis) and latundan banana (Musa acuminata × M. balbisiana) peels. The materials utilized were orange and latundan banana peels (Musa acuminata × M. balbisiana), cornstarch, vinegar, and salt, and the equipment utilized were a boiling pot, blender, mixing equipment, and molder. 30 participants evaluated the pouches through durability and shelf-life tests, which proved good structural stability, no mold or rot, and good damage resistance. The study concludes that the biodegradable pouch is a practical and an eco-friendly alternative to conventional plastic packaging, reducing environmental impact while effectively storing food.
