This project develops Smart Home Sensor, an IoT-integrated smart home sensor system centered on an ultrasonic sensor and an Arduino microcontroller to provide internet-based home monitoring and immediate local alerts. The system continuously measures proximity and activates localized audible and visual alarms upon detecting an object or an unauthorized change in distance (for example, when occupants are asleep or away), thereby notifying occupants of potential intrusion or housebreaking events. The design follows a structured hardware and software development life-cycle with implementation on an Arduino board as the embedded controller. Targeted users include individuals living alone and families in Miri who rely on remote home monitoring. The project aims to enhance quality of life and well-being while reducing costs and energy consumption through automated monitoring and control.
